Hamilton County Prosecutor, Joe Deters and his staff is set to break a new record in waste of tax payer dollars by so called fiscal conservatives. The special prosecutors are in the works to set a new trial on the 8 charges that Judge Tracie Hunter was not convicted of. The strangely obsessed prosecutors, R. Scott Croswell and Merlyn Shiverdecker, gave an oddly arrogant ultimatum to Judge Hunter, to waive her Constitutional Right to a Speedy Trial or face a retrial on the remaining 8 counts. After beating 8 of the 9 counts, Judge Tracie Hunter did what majority of common sense thinking Americans would do and not submit to such absurd demands.
Instead of the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office accepting undeniable defeat of the trumped up charges against Judge Hunter, the Republican waste machine is ready to suit up in their circus attire for round two. Brace yourself for months of baseless testimony from the prosecution to only be assertively disputed by the defense like before.
After 2014, we all should be diagnosed with Tracie Hunter Trial fatigue. The fact that more people are not upset of such ridiculous waste is very suspicious. You hear crickets coming out of the County Commissioners office regarding pulling the plug on Prosecutor Joe Deter’s million dollar charade. No complaints of government waste from Alex Triantafilou, the Chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party. No lawsuits from COAST (Coalition OPPOSED To Additional Spending and Taxes) to (so call) protect tax payers by suing government agency to only take more tax payers’ dollars. What this case should teach everyone is that Republicans who hang their hats on being fiscal conservatives are generally hypocrites because when it comes to self-servingly stroking their egos or maintaining a position of authority they will spare no expense in wasting your hard earned money.
Honestly, there is no downside for old Joe Deters’ prosecutors office to let this go and quit wasting tax dollars; especially when he and his prosecutors can align their pockets at your expense. Prosecutor Croswell and Prosecutor Shiverdecker have been paid close to $450,000.00 for last year’s six week trial against Judge Hunter. Must be nice!
Joe Deters count on the amnesia of voters in order to continue his gross abuse of power and tax payer waste. Voters had amnesia when he shamefully came from a firestorm of corruption out of the state Treasurer’s office that he lead, but conveniently avoided any legal accountability to those felony charges. Voters forgot how Deter vigorously went after a woman for voter’s fraud but committed the same act by voting in an area he no longer resided and arrogantly refused to accept accountability. Where was Judge Norbert Nadel to tell Deters his actions were “Double Whammies”, and because he is an elected official he should be held to a higher standard? Apparently, that doesn’t apply to fellow cronies only their political foes.
I have faith in good people. The controversy surrounding the Tracie Hunter trial and the strongly formed opinions regarding this case by many in this county, clearly reveals that this case should be in a different venue. If the venue is not changed I hope that despite party lines, and race people in this county will began to see the divisive nature of the prosecutor’s office and make a collective effort to remove self-serving politicians out of office.
